Bicycle to Work Rewards
The Bicycle to Work Rewards Program encourages bicycle commuting by rewarding those who choose to ride their bicycle to /from work. Bike commuters help reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and make our communities safer - all while enjoying the health benefits and fun of riding a bike. Plus, bike commuters who work in San Mateo County are eligible for our Guaranteed Ride Home program. We'll cover the cost of your ride home in case of bad weather or bicycle theft/breakage.
How does the Bicycle to Work Rewards Program work? Commuters who live or work in San Mateo County can receive up to $100 when they log their bicycle commutes on the STAR platform (my.commute.org) by connecting a Strava account for automatic trip tracking. After clicking "join program" under "rewards" in STAR and using Strava to track bicycle commutes, commuters start earning rewards. Participants can unlock a $25 e-gift card to their choice of over 75 retail or nonprofit donation options after 10 days of bicycling to/from work and clicking "claim" in STAR (up to 4 times for a total of $100). Note: if you use your bicycle for just the final portion of your commute to work or first portion of your commute home (e.g., between a transit station and your worksite), it will count toward the reward.
Program Rules: Bicycle commutes must start or end in San Mateo County. Trips must be tracked using the Strava app and automatically reported to the STAR platform via the connected app option * to be eligible for the rewards. The STAR platform will only count Strava trips that start or end at the same work address commuters have saved in their STAR profile. There is a limit of four rewards ($100 total) per person. All reward claims are subject to verification. Program runs 7/1/2020 through 12/31/2021 or until funds are depleted.
*Be sure to authorize my.commute.org to access both public and private activities when connecting a Strava account.
