Our First TDM Workshop for Jurisdictions!

![]()
On February 25, Commute.org hosted our first-ever TDM Workshop, bringing together jurisdiction staff across San Mateo County to advance our collective TDM initiatives. With nearly 40 attendees from 16 different jurisdictions, the event was a huge success! The workshop provided a dedicated space for jurisdictions to align on best practices, share challenges, and discuss strategies to support TDM.
The workshop included three engaging sessions and concluded with Commute.org program updates:
- Money Talks: Funding TDM Programs – Overview of TDM grant opportunities, application pro-tips, and past grantees. Jurisdictions are encouraged to apply to C/CAG’s Lifeline and the Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) grant programs and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority’s (the TA) TDM Call for Projects. The cities of Burlingame and Millbrae also shared takeaways from their TA funded multijurisdictional joint e-bike sharing program.
- TDM Policy in Action: Upcoming Updates and Monitoring – Highlights of the C/CAG Countywide TDM Policy including requirements, exemption updates, and the monitoring and reporting process. Visit ccagtdm.org to learn more. Commute.org can assist local jurisdictions and developers with policy implementation and monitoring. Developers are encouraged to complete the Project Registration Form to assist in our efforts.
- TMA 101: What Works and What Doesn’t – Best practices and considerations for Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) including structure, functions, and services. The cities of Mountain View and Alameda provided an overview of their TMAs and lessons learned. The Alameda TMA also shared their participation in the Clipper Bay Pass pilot program and the Mountain View TMA discussed their MVgo shuttle service.
Commute.org Program Updates
We announced the launch of our CommuteStar app and Marketing Toolkit. This toolkit equips San Mateo County agencies with everything needed to promote Commute.org’s free programs, services, and resources to residents and local communities. We also announced our new partnership with the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and the launch of our Comprehensive Bike Education Program. This program offers free in-person and virtual bike education courses to residents interested in learning more about bike safety, maintenance, and commuting. Residents can register for a course today!
