Clipper BayPass – Pilot Program

Update July 2024: In 2023, the project team expanded the Clipper BayPass pilot to at least ten Bay Area employers of various sizes. This second phase of the pilot program offers the pass, for purchase, to organizations which are interested in offering their employees an unlimited Bay Area transit pass. After the two-year pilot, and based on results from the pilot, MTC and transit agencies hope to offer a permanent program to any interested organization/employer in the Bay Area.

The Clipper BayPass pilot program is expanding to include employers who are interested in purchasing Clipper BayPass cards at a custom discounted price to provide all employees with unlimited access to transit services throughout the Bay Area.

The BayPass pilot began in summer 2022 with 50,000 college students and affordable housing residents in the Bay Area. Participants include students at Santa Rosa Junior College, San Francisco State University, San Jose State University and University of California, Berkeley, as well as residents of at least three housing developments run by MidPen Housing.

Now, Clipper is expanding the pilot to interested employers. The pass would give your employees unlimited travel on all Bay Area transit services — bus, rail and ferry.

Why Clipper BayPass is good for your business:

  1. Helps to recruit/retain employees
  2. Provides more options and flexibility for your workforce
  3. Demonstrates commitment to environmental sustainability

Join the Clipper BayPass Pilot Program and be one of the first to enjoy the benefits of unlimited transit! Colleges, universities and other institutions can also sign up for Clipper BayPass!
