Introducing CommuteStar

We’re excited to announce that STAR has been rebranded as CommuteStar, with a fresh look and a new app to make sustainable commuting easier than ever. CommuteStar helps you effortlessly plan, track, and earn rewards for your sustainable commutes. With exciting challenges, partner matching, and trip planning tools, your daily commute becomes a simple and rewarding part of your routine.

The CommuteStar app offers a range of features, including:

  • Access to all rewards and incentives
  • Log your commute trips
  • Record verified trips to earn carpool, vanpool or bicycle rewards
  • Submit a Guaranteed Ride Home Reimbursement Request
  • Find carpool and vanpool partners
  • Explore your commute options

While CommtueStar is available both as a web and app tool, the CommuteStar app is necessary for participating in the Bicycle, Carpool, or Vanpool Commute Rewards program. The app’s new ‘Record’ feature lets you live-track your carpool, vanpool, and bike trips. By recording your commute, you can easily verify your trips and earn rewards through the Commute Rewards program. While our previous system of tracking bike trips via Strava remains an option, the CommuteStar app provides a more seamless and efficient way to record, verify, and get rewarded for your sustainable commute—all in one place. Logging your sustainable trips through the ‘Log’ feature on the CommuteStar app or website allows you to earn additional rewards through our updated CommuteStar Store. By logging your trips, you accumulate points that can be redeemed for various rewards. To claim rewards on the app and website, follow the steps below:

On the App:

  1. Go to the Home Page and select Rewards.
  2. Choose your reward, click Claim, then Confirm.

On the Website:

  1. From your Dashboard, click My Rewards or go to Program > Rewards.
  2. Select your reward and follow the prompts to claim it.

To celebrate the launch of the CommuteStar app, we’re offering a special promotion for you to win a San Francisco Serenity Vacation Package. If you live or work in San Mateo County and use sustainable commuting, you could win a two-night hotel stay in San Francisco, two $25 Clipper cards, and a $200 Visa gift card.
