Bike Champion of the Year

Part of Bike Month includes recognizing a dedicated bicyclist who inspires others. Cherie Chan, a leader for better biking in Pacifica has been chosen as San Mateo County’s 2026 Bike Champion of the Year. Cherie started off by advocating for Cabrillo School to pursue Safe Routes to School funding from the county Office of Education. She also serves on the City of Pacifica’s Parks and Recreation Commission and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Subcommittee. Her involvement has led to a school bike rack, quick-build bike infrastructure, and a park and walk/ride option from the community center. Cherie bikes around town as well as with her kids and loves to share the joy of cycling with her community. We congratulate her on her win.
