New Staff Join Commute.org

Commute.org is pleased to welcome two new staff members to our team. Emma and Carmen will focus on Transportation Demand Management and Employer Outreach.

Emma Shlaes, TDM Program Manager

Emma comes to Commute.org after 8 years with Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, working on policy and programs to create bike-friendly cities in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Emma has a dual master’s degree in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development from American University and the UN-Mandated University for Peace and has previously worked for national and international organizations focused on transportation and the environment.  She rides her bike with Caltrain on her weekly commute and has lived all over the Bay Area.

Carmen Chen, TDM Program Manager

Carmen brings over seven years of transportation planning experience specializing in TDM, parking, and emerging mobility. As part of this work, she has helped local jurisdictions and employers throughout California develop actionable TDM and parking management plans and policies that encourage mode shift, provide diverse mobility options, and improve transportation access for all roadway users. Carmen helps communities prepare for the future and become better connected, safer, and more equitable.
