Vanpool or Bicycle Rebate for Eligible JUHSD Faculty & Staff

Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD) faculty and staff residing at the newly-constructed staff housing complex at 705 Serramonte Blvd. in Daly City are eligible to choose between a subsidized vanpool or bicycle rebate to reduce the financial cost and environmental impacts of driving alone to work.

This program is made possible by a grant from the San Mateo County Transportation Authority’s Measure A ACR/TDM program.

Vanpool Program

A vanpool is a group of 5 – 15 employees sharing a large SUV or van. The group shares the driving and decides on commute times. They share the costs for the van (monthly fee) and can ride as often as they like.

A grant, provided by the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA), will subsidize $600 per month, per van, until the funds are depleted or when the program ends. Commute.org and Commute with Enterprise, the vanpool vendor, will work with faculty and staff to help form vanpools. Commute.org will also assist the vanpool groups with receiving additional rewards and subsidies to further offset the monthly costs. For example, the MTC Bay Area Vanpool Program provides a subsidy of $400 per month, per van. And Commute.org offers a Vanpool Rewards program, each vanpool participant can earn up to $100 e-gift cards.

A black SUV with a "Commute" logo is parked in front of a modern apartment building, symbolizing accessibility for workforce housing. The vehicle rests in a designated space, with lush greenery and residential structures forming the backdrop.

Bicycle Rebate

Funds are also available for the purchase of a new bike or e-bike, with a rebate of 50% off the purchase price up to a maximum of $1,000. In order to confirm eligibility, a pre-approval form is required to be filled out prior to requesting reimbursement. Bicycles must be new and can be purchased online or from local retailers who offer maintenance programs/warranties. If the cap of the reimbursement is not met by the bike alone, participants are encouraged to include bicycle safety supplies to reach full reimbursement (limited to helmet, lock, and front and rear lights). In exchange for committing to riding to work 2-3 days per week, participants are eligible for reimbursement.

Three people in blue shirts and white helmets stand with bicycles in front of the "Belmont Library." They are smiling, engaged in conversation. Through TDM Grants, they support eco-friendly travel solutions. Each bike sports a basket, symbolizing community efforts for a sustainable future.
Amidst a backdrop of modern buildings and a clear blue sky, a vibrant crowd gathers on the city street, hoisting bicycles aloft in celebration. This lively scene underscores the city's commitment to initiatives like workforce housing and TDM grants, bringing the community together.
